Eco: A Look at BP's Upcoming Plans for this Oil Spill

As a journalist I have access to what we dub “the wire”, many of you may be familiar with this alerting system and knowledgeable that it is essentially a stable stream of data that has been confirmed as accurate from the dominate powerhouse of output media reporting. I have various gadgets that allow me to access the cascade of current national and international information through my account as most who know me know that I am a self professed geek -- avid for technology. Thirsting for knowledge, I often watch our wire to quench my thirst, typically obtaining data from thirty minutes to two hours prior to broadcasting television media reporting based on their restrictions.  Once again I cannot turn away from the catastrophic oil spill that is violating our Gulf’s beloved waters, a situation in which I feel not enough is being done by our government to resolve such problem prompt and correct to the needs of this precious area. Several of you, have voiced agreement and in that I felt the need to update based on what I am seeing on the wire; from the perspective of a environmental protector.

As most of you know by now BP has remained fully in charge of this massive oil spill without intervention by our government, in fact it wasn’t until just two weeks ago our president recognized this by first-hand travel to the region; going back to assess the situation the following week and sending a White House aid to the area also. My fear steams from the domination of BP, it has been confirmed by numerous sources at this point that BP is not giving the proper information to America and to the government. Seemingly, BP is using tactics of untruth to save face; putting out an “I’m sorry” commercial but imploring our government to cap the amount they would have to pay! Starting today and placed in full effect next week BP has opted to burn the oil from the surface waters. An innovative vacuum system is also to be used, a patent held by a celebrity, in attempts to suction the bubbling crude from out devastated waters; I have always claimed there should be a tool in existence for such purpose and I am personally glad to see a device that can suction up the oil -- zealously I await to hear its success rate.

A containment cap placed on the spewing pipeline is said to be capturing 630,000 gallons of oil per day, which is being pumped to the surface and properly contained for use. The cap that was initially placed had to be utilized with slow and meticulous care as it rests on a unclean edge due to the failure of diamond tip saw blades; yet good news is finally suggesting that next week we could see the cap containment to yield 1.17 million gallons of crude oil per day as they slowly raise production so not to blow the cap. Yet are we really seeing progress when we consider the devastation this critical accident has caused, can we really call this an accident if six weeks prior BP had open knowledge that the rig function was questionable? I have far too many questions as my heart sinks at the wildlife we have lost, the work and livelihoods turned upside down, the Earth violated in such a way that didn’t have to be. As we all know the oil spill in America’s gulf will not be stopped until the end of August when two wells are drilled to stop such spillage, each with a small seven inch success rate. Once again, from my own heart I thank BP for doing what they are attempting but will say by far is this enough. However, all in all I feel as if we have been let down by the government.

Product: Save the Environment By Switching To Tote Grocery Bags

Going green does not have to compromise your current lifestyle; environmental awareness is of vital importance currently thus meaning many options are available for frugal purchases to do your part in saving our beloved planet. Eco-Friendly Tote Bags are now being seen more and more at shopping centers as families go by a much greener perspective, these tote bags remove 800 million pounds of plastic bags from production; simply meaning billions of bags will never make it to our land fields, making the Earth contribution frugally. Eco-Friendly totes are constructed with biodegradable a material which alludes to the fact when torn throwing away such totes will never harm our eco-system. I personally use a slew of these cloth made and mesh tote bags when I shop for groceries or domestic products, while my primary concern is saving the environment I am keen on knowing the bags will never split or have a bottom fall out causing a mess in my kitchen or sidewalk. I strongly encourage a simplistic switch to make this earth a better and stronger planet. It is our duty to care for planet Earth and we must do our part.

I was just removing items from my Jute Tote Bag which I find stylish and I read that fibers are made from webbed vegetable fiber while the handles are strong rope that is conscious of our Earth; each bag was
designed for the purpose of awareness from organic materials. I have yet had a problem with my Jute Tote and have fell in love with the fact I can so a small thing to save 11 barrels of oil annually from being wasted and threatening our dear Earth.

-Stop To Calculate Your Usage-

While only
1% of plastic bags get recycled, a horrific number for eco women like myself, typically at least you will use two plastic bags if not more at your shopping center; two bags annually multiply into 208 providing we go to the store twice a week -- yet when we grocery shop we use far more than two plastic bags. An average family visits a grocery store 104 times in a single year, many visit more than this average figure so a immense number of plastic bags are going out the door harming the Earth by laying for years in land fields.
